Kuala Lumpur to Sky Sentral

How to Get to Genting Cable Car

For Awana SkyWay, aim for Sky Sentral beside Genting Highlands Premium Outlets—not the peak. You can get there from Kuala Lumpur by express bus, car, taxi or e-hailing and then ride the cable car to Genting Highlands.

Where exactly do you go?

The lower Awana SkyWay station is at Sky Sentral, the mid-hill transport hub beside Genting Highlands Premium Outlets (GPO). Express buses stop here, GPO parking is next door, and Awana SkyWay is on Level 4.

KL Sentral to Genting cable car by bus

Resorts World Genting operates express buses between KL Sentral and the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets Terminal at Sky Sentral. The currently published bus-only fare is RM10 for an adult and RM7 for a child, senior or guest with disabilities.

A combined express bus + cable-car product is also published from KL Sentral at RM20 for an adult, RM17 for a child and RM12 for a senior or guest with disabilities. Check the final product conditions when buying because schedules and fares can change.

Buses run throughout the day. The current schedule lists departures from KL Sentral beginning at 7:30 AM and continuing into the evening. For the return direction, services also operate from the GPO/Sky Sentral terminal back to KL Sentral.

1. Go to the KL Sentral bus departure areaThe operator states that its bus terminal is at the lower ground floor of KL Sentral.
2. Take the bus to Genting Highlands Premium Outlets TerminalThis brings you to the same mid-hill complex as Sky Sentral.
3. Go to Awana SkyWayAt Sky Sentral, head to the cable-car station on Level 4.
4. Ride to Genting HighlandsThe direct Awana SkyWay journey takes about 10 minutes.

From Terminal Bersepadu Gombak

The operator also lists express buses from Terminal Bersepadu Gombak (TBG). The bus-only published fare is RM12 for an adult and RM9 for a child, senior or guest with disabilities. The former Gombak LRT ticket-counter arrangement changed in 2025, so use the current TBG information rather than older guides that still direct passengers to the old counter.

Driving to Genting cable car

If you are driving and specifically want to ride Awana SkyWay, navigate to Genting Highlands Premium Outlets. Park there and walk into the connected Sky Sentral transport complex. The operator describes this as its park-and-ride option.

This is different from driving all the way to Resorts World Genting at the peak. Both are possible, but driving to the peak means you do not need Awana SkyWay for the ascent.

Taxi or e-hailing to Awana SkyWay

Taxi or e-hailing can take you directly to the mid-hill area. If the cable car is part of your plan, use Sky Sentral, Awana SkyWay or Genting Highlands Premium Outlets as the intended destination rather than simply entering Resorts World Genting, which may route you to the peak.

Sky Sentral has a taxi counter, and the Resorts World Awana area also supports taxi and major e-hailing services.

From Resorts World Awana

A complimentary shuttle connects Resorts World Awana with Sky Sentral/Awana SkyCentral. Current operator information states that the Sky Sentral shuttle is available from 7 AM until midnight, while hotel information also describes complimentary shuttle service for in-house guests. If you are staying there, confirm the day's timetable at the hotel.

From KLIA or KLIA2

Direct bus services are also listed from KLIA1 and KLIA2 to the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets Terminal. The currently published bus-only fare is RM35 for an adult and RM25 for a child. Service frequency is much lower than the KL Sentral route, so check the current departure times before relying on it.

What to do after arriving at Sky Sentral

The complex includes ticketing facilities, food outlets, an information counter, baggage storage and other visitor facilities. Cable-car tickets are available from ticketing facilities in the complex, while advance online tickets may let you prepare your voucher before arrival.

If you stop at Chin Swee Station during the ride, keep your ticket or QR code. The stopover is included with the same Awana SkyWay ticket, and you use it again to continue the journey.

Can you reach Genting without taking the cable car?

Yes. You can drive or take a taxi directly to Resorts World Genting. The Sky Sentral route is particularly useful when you want the cable-car experience, arrive by the Genting express bus, or prefer to park at the mid-hill GPO complex rather than drive to the peak.
